Massive 50% Tariffs Paused, Trump Gives EU Until July 9

Image
The massive 50% tariffs that were set to hit EU imports have been paused after President Donald Trump agreed to delay his threat until July 9. This latest Trump tariff threat was supposed to devastate European exports starting June 1, but following what European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described as a “very nice call” with Trump on Sunday, the deadline has been extended. The move also prevents immediate market volatility and gives both sides crucial time to hammer out a deal. Right now, the situation where 50% tariffs paused EU negotiations offers some hope for avoiding what could have been a devastating trade war between two economic superpowers. No, Saudi Arabia isn’t ditching the dollar for Ripple in its oil trades

There is a legend that in 1973, US president Richard Nixon and secretary of state Henry Kissinger made a secret deal with Saudi Arabia to price oil excl US ively in dollar s, th US pegging the currency to oil and birthing the petro dollar . According to the myth, the US provides military protection for Saudi Arabia’s oil fields in exchange for the kingdom’s role in enforcing US dollar hegemony over the world’s most valuable commodity market. Supposedly, the country’s sovereigns signed a 50-year petrodollar pact on June 6, 1974, which expired on or around June 9, 2024. If that were true, this week would be one of the most historic weeks in the history of the US dollar. It should be primed for an immediate crash, according to the theory, to the immediate benefit of emerging currencies. Some articles go so far as to claim, “Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has informed the Saudi government that the country will no longer accept US dollars for oil transactions.” Yes, there are peopl...

Despite coming up short of his goal, crypto trader Thomas Kralow said the crypto-funded expedition was all about two things: “Bitcoin and happiness.” A Bitcoin proponent’s recent attempt to crypto trade his way from New York to Alaska has come to a sudden and bitter end — some 900 miles from his final destination.  Thomas Kralow, a crypto trade r and educator recently set himself the daring task of traveling from one side of the United States to the other funded solely by trading crypto. On Aug. 12, Kralow set out from New York with his assistant Ilya and an initial budget of $5,000 cash. The pair forked out some cash for a dinged-up Mercedes and set up a Starlink antenna on the back of the vehicle — with fast internet being a requirement for quick trade s — leaving them with just $2,500 to trade their way to Alaska. Unfortunately for Kralow, he never made it to his final destination — with his cheap vehicle grinding to a permanent halt in Seattle, just 12 days after starting the j...
