ETH developer programs AI-generated memecoin AstroPepeX using ChatGPT

Image
“What if ChatGPT could deploy its own token?” You probably guessed the answer - AstroPepeX has been minted and is being traded on a handful of DeFi and centralized exchanges. An Ethereum developer has managed to get ChatGPT to launch its own ERC-20 token, AstroPepeX, modeled off data from the top traded tokens on Uniswap. X (previously Twitter) user CroissantETH unpacked details of how they integrated ChatGPT into a custom application using OpenAI’s API. They told it to design and issue its own ERC-20 token with an estimated market cap of $3.5 million. Data from Etherscan reveals that there are now over 2,300 APX holders that have carried out over 17,700 transactions since the token mint on Sept. 20. What if ChatGPT could deploy its own token? Surely this shouldn't be possible, right? pic.twitter.com/Wz5OvakwxC — ‍.eth (@CroissantEth) September 19, 2023 The developer managed to get ChatGPT to be able to deploy smart contracts on the Ethereum network after feeding it data ...

Crypto traders expect a range expansion once the Jackson Hole symposium is complete and the Fed’s perspectives on inflation, interest rate hikes and the health of the economy are made public. Bitcoin (BTC) and several major cryptocurrencies have been trading sideways as traders avoid taking large bets before the United States Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, which begins on Aug. 25. The volatility is likely to soar as investors get some clarity on the Fed's stance in the next few days. On Aug. 23, a team led by Goldman Sachs chief economist Jan Hatzius said that Fed Chair Jerome Powell could sound dovish when he speaks on Aug. 26, reiterating that the central bank may move at a slower pace in future meetings. The analysts expect the Fed to raise rates by 50 basis points in the September meeting, which would be less than the 75 bps hike done in June and July. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. The S&P 500 is attempting a recovery, but Bitcoin and select altcoins are struggling to break above their respective resistance levels. Bitcoin (BTC) is down about 11% in August, just shy of the 13.88% fall seen in the corresponding month in 2022, according to CoinGlass data. The picture does not look very bright for September either. History shows that every year since 2017, Bitcoin has declined in September.  Bloomberg Intelligence senior macro strategist Mike McGlone is even more bearish on Bitcoin. While speaking to Kitco News, McGlone warned that in case of a “global economic reset,” Bitcoin could nosedive to as low as $10,000. Daily cryptocurrency market performance. Fed pauses interest rates, but Bitcoin options data still points to BTC price downside

Image
Fed Chair Jerome Powell announced a pause in interest rates, but Bitcoin options data still warns that a BTC price drop to $25,000 is possible. Bitcoin's price has been pinned below $26,300 since June 10, reflecting a 14.8% correction in two months. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq tech stock market index gained 13.6% in the same period, indicating that investors are not exactly fleeing to the safety of cash and short-term debt. In fact, the demand for United States government bonds has been declining for the past six weeks. U.S. 2-year government bond yield. Source: TradingView The yield on two-year U.S. Treasurys, for example, increased from 3.80% on May 4 to 4.68% on June 14. Lower demand for debt instruments increases payouts, resulting in a higher yield. If the investor thinks that inflation will continue above target, the tendency is for those participants to demand a higher yield when trading bonds. The U.S. Treasury is set to issue more than $850 billion in new bills between June and...

The US will find the 'right outcome' for crypto, eventually – Coinbase CEO

In an interview with WSJ, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong explained that entrepreneurs who left the United States will return when the government finds the "right outcome" for crypto regulation. Brian Armstrong, the CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, is confident that the United States will achieve clarity with crypto regulations, “even if it takes a while.” However, he believes this is the vital component to luring entrepreneurs back to the country. Armstrong sat down for an interview with Wall Street Journal on June 11, just days after the SEC filed a lawsuit against crypto exchange Coinbase on June 6. The SEC alleged that Coinbase has been operating a securities exchange, broker-dealership and clearing house without registering with the commission. Bitcoin price continues to fall, but derivatives data hints at a short-term rally to $25K

Image
This week regulators joined hands to highlight the crypto sector’s inherent risk, but pro traders fought back by adding leverage to their long positions. It’s possible that many people have already forgotten that Bitcoin’s (BTC) price closed 2022 at $16,529 and the recent rebound and rejection at the $25,000 level could raise concern among certain investors. Bears are pushing back at the $25,000 level and there has been multiple failed attempts at the level between Feb. 16 and Feb. 21. Currently, it looks like the $23,500 resistance is continuing to gain strength with every retest.  Pinpointing the rationale behind Bitcoin’s 45.5% year-to-date gain is not apparent, but part of it comes from the United States Federal Reserve’s inability to curb inflation while raising interest rates to its highest level in 15 years. The unintended consequence is higher government debt repayments and this adds further pressure to the budget deficit. It’s virtually impossible to predict when the Fed wil...

Protocol Labs, Chainalysis and Bittrex add to crypto layoff season

Crypto execs suggested that the "extremely challenging" times forced them to cut jobs in order to “weather this extended" crypto winter. Several crypto firms have made job cuts this week amid the ongoing crypto winter, retaining “impactful” employees as they prepare for a “longer downturn.” At least 216 jobs were slashed between three crypto firms – open-source software laboratory Protocol Labs, blockchain data firm Chainalysis and U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex, with reductions of 89, 83 and 44 employees respectively. Juan Benet, CEO of Protocol Labs, the parent company of Filecoin, announced the job cuts in a blog post on Feb. 3 stating that the company has had to focus its headcount “against the most impactful and business critical efforts.” He stated that the company's decision to cut “89 roles,” approximately 21% of its workforce, was to ensure it is well positioned to “weather this extended winter.” Benet suggested that the company must “prepare for a lo...

Stablecoin data points to ‘healthy appetite’ from bulls and possible Bitcoin rally to $25K

Image
Bitcoin price continues to press higher this week as demand for stablecoins and a key BTC price metric suggests bulls have a “healthy appetite.” Bitcoin (BTC) rallied 11% between Jan. 20 and Jan. 21, reaching the $23,000 level and shattering bears' expectations for a pullback to $20,000. Even more notable is the move brought demand from Asia-based retail investors according to data from a key stablecoin premium indicator. Traders should note that the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index also gained 5.1% between Jan. 20 and Jan. 23, fueled by investors' hope in China reopening for business after temporary shutdowns caused by the CCP’s virus contagion measures and weaker than expected economic data in the U.S. and the Eurozone. Another bit of bullish information came on Jan. 20 after U.S. Federal Reserve governor Christopher Waller reinforced the market expectation of a 25 basis point interest rate increase in February. A handful of heavyweight companies are expected to report their lat...
